About Tameka
I graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Mississippi in 1996. I’ve been frugal ever since I can remember. As a child, I saved all of my allowance in order to buy one BIG, valuable (in a child’s mind) item, instead of purchasing something every week. As a stay-home-mom of two boys, this frugal mentality allowed my family to prosper while others with similar or larger household incomes struggled.
When both of my boys were in diapers, I started diligently seeking ways to save my family money--out of necessity. As I figured out ways to cut costs in one area, I couldn’t wait to research ways to cut costs in others. Saving money soon became my passion.
Friends and neighbors sometimes ridiculed me because I was so “CHEAP”. They couldn’t understand why I declined lunch dates occasionally or why I purchased my children’s clothing from Goodwill.
However, when my husband and I purchased furniture or other major items and paid cash for them, they were floored! Soon those same people began coming to me for financial advice. They wanted to experience the FINANCIAL PEACE I’d been living for years.
